Grants

Good applications say clearly what they want the council or councillors to award.
The project should be something that makes the local community a better place in which to live, work or visit and it should benefit people who live in the parish. There must also be clearly presented evidence that local people support the project and are involved in carrying it out. Applications do not have to be from groups that already exist. Each group may only make one application per financial year (running April 1st to March 31st).
In accordance with statutory provision the Local Government Act of 1972, Section (137), Burlecombe Parish Council (“the Council”) has discretionary powers to award grants to local groups or organisations for the purposes of bringing a direct benefit to the parish or its residents. A grant or subsidy is any payment made by Burlecombe Parish Council to be used by an organisation or individual for a specific purpose in the furtherance of the wellbeing of the community, either generally, or for a specific purpose and which is not directly controlled or administered by Burlecombe Parish Council. The purpose of any grant or subsidy given by Burlecombe Parish Council is to support initiatives in the local community and to help create opportunities for the residents of Burlescombe parish that are not, as a matter of course, funded by Burlecombe Parish Council.
