Notice of Third Vacancy in Office of Councillor

Update from Burlescombe Parish Council

Three months have passed since the community elected the new members of Burlescombe Parish Council. Having had five Council meetings, and worked in between them to keep making progress, we now all have a better understanding of the nature and requirements of the role.

In light of this, we regret to announce that Louise Farley has taken the difficult decision to step down from the Council. Louise wants the community to have the best representation and feels she’s not able to give the role the time and energy she would like – due to the demands of balancing a young family and farming life.

By stepping down at this time, Louise intends to save the Council (and therefore the community) the additional cost and time of another election or co-option process in the future.

An image of the Notice of Vacancy is below and it will be published on the Mid Devon District Council website and in parish noticeboards soon.

The remaining Burlescombe Parish Councillors would like to reassure residents that we continue to be committed to representing your interests and having a positive impact on the community.

We’re now looking for three new Councillors, and would encourage anyone interested in making a difference to consider putting themselves forward.

The role is varied and interesting, involving topics such as: community safety, public rights of way, planning, local spaces such as the playpark and the old railway line, and liaising with local organisations and businesses for the overall benefit of the community.

Training will be provided, so all you need is a positive attitude, a bit of time, and a willingness to embody the principles of selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.
